I congratulate everybody for getting the opportunity to file 485.I am truely happy for u guys.
I am one of the very few people who can not apply for 485 as I have just changed my company and labour yet has to be filed.
I just wanted to to know Is it still possible that they will bring some kind of amendment(From CIR bill) which wouldn't allow me to extend my H1 Visa after 6 years?.I am so scared when I read on numberusa that some amendments are coming back to vote.Are we really in trouble?.
I just need some lodgical reasons that it won't happen.
I know everybody is busy but don't forget about people like us.

No such proposal will be coming for another next two years for minimum. In the meantime, file your labor and and while you wait for approval, prepare your exp letters so that u r ready to file on day one after your labor is approved. bol

As I understand the process, if your date is current, the USCIS will accept your application - meaning they ARE processing applications with a priority date matching or exceeding yours.

During the July 2007 fiasco, the cut-off dates were current, allowing everyone to apply. If we submitted our application and the date is current at the time, why do we have to wait until our date becomes current again? Shouldn't they process the application within 6 months or less?

If the House manages to pass CIR this year, wouldn't a committee (Senate & House members) meet and chalk of the difference and come to a common ground?

Does 1 require a UK Visa if they are travelling on British Airways? As i have my parents travelling from India to USA on British Airways(they have Multiple B1/B2 US Visa)..
Spoke to BA &they advised me to speak to UK Consulate.:(

This is not the appropriate place to ask this question. Most of us here are still waiting to get our green card. You may find answer to your question at another forum that have people who already took the oath.

It is ok in my opinion. This is a 'Ask a lawyer' area and people can ask any immigration related question to the panel of IV lawyers for free. We now have 15 lawyers in IV panel.

This was already dicussed here in a seperate thread almost 3 weeks ago and everybody knows this is the face saving techniqu of Infosys by paying some not popular channels in USA. just to save from the CHOP SHOP thing.

So India is always open her arms to any one who want to go back, no one is blocking anybody. But before going know the TRUTH as it is. not from the media. for that matter all Indian medias are false news mongers, as discussed in previous thread.

There are lot of discussions about this issue, and there seem to be mixed opinions so far. it may not be a bad idea to check with your lawyer, and post your findings to the group. AFAIK, it is possible to file multiple I-485 but interim benefits should be tied to only one.

Hello All,

Following is my situation:

1) Recently got my L1 extension approval through company A which is valid through Aug, 2010.
2) I also have a Consular-H1B petition papers from same company A which is valid till Aug,
2011. But i don't have H1B visa stamp in my passport.

*My question is:
Is it possible to do H1B petition transfer from Company A to Company B without COS from L1 to H1?
OR
Should I first apply COS from L1->H1 through company A and then apply for H1B transfer from Company A to company B.
(and I believe for COS to happen i need to be still employed with company A.)

I am not planning to go India now but wanted to apply H1 transfer and work for the new company B in case of my layoff from present company A

I applied for H1B and Green Card Simultaneously in 2002. My first H1B expired in 2005. I am working on EAD. My questions are--

If I decide to change jobs and apply for H1B with the new company, am I subject to the QUOTA?

If I change jobs( in similar field) to another state in another service center, how is my case transfered to TSC from NSC?

I just called USCIS to check the status of my case and the Immigration Officer said it is in EB-1 category. I know my case is EB-2.

I asked the IO to see if i have send any paperwork to rectify their mistake, but she said USCIS will automatically adjust the category whe it picks up the case for review

I am confused. Please Advice

I filed my I-485 in July 07 at Nebraska service center and my wife had her finger printing done a month or so ago but I am yet to get the notice. Is there some number I can call and check. My Lawyer is very uncooperative in this case.

please call the USCIS customer service number. Search the forum and you will find a lot of threads regarding this.

Hello guys,
I am sending my family based I-485 on May 1. currently i am on h1b . My h1b approval (I-797A) is valid till April 15, 2009. my h1b extension is already pending with USCIS. My Question is :::----

Is there gonna be any problem with USCIS since my h1b approval already expired?? what will be my status after i filled my I-485?? Can i legally stay in US after filing family based I-485 even my h1b extension get denied.???

Is this required? ... or is it loading up ur school bag for just in-case event.

I was planning to only carry orginals of I-485 application/ Reciept notice, EAD and AP along with me.

May be someone helping you will help me in-way. Good Luck!
