Unless there is a change in immigration laws it will be very true that you cannot apply for 485 in the next 5 years. To make something happen it is very important to attend DC Rally.
So folks who are reading this, notice the importance of the Rally and your presence at the rally.

China eb3 may move but not india eb3. there are too many of them. i dont think there will be any cir or things like it passed this year. there is already however several bills writting to resolve but with eb3 world and rest doing just fine, why would the congress want to do something for india. i would be very surprised if they did

It seems as per current DOS practice, the answer is yes. They will be issuing only 2800 EB2 visas per year to India and China. They will be issuing remaining unused visas by EB2-ROW to EB3-ROW.

How can CA/ICWA be equivalent to MS programs as they are post high school courses? These courses do not require graduation for admission.

Until recently (2001), someone with a Bachelors degree could become a CPA since the requirement to take the exam was a certain number of credit hours roughly equivalent to that of a 4-year Bachelors degree. Anyway, I consider a CPA as a certification, not a degree. If USCIS has been accepting CA to be equivalent to a Masters degree, then it is quite generous of them.

I have been resisting reading this thread until now. Had a gut feeling that something with such an idiotic title cannot have anything meaningful. Anyway, just read this and couldn't help rolling on the floor!
So basically this crackpot "rajakannan" files in June and tries to con everyone into applying on July 31st, thus ensuring two things (IMHO):
1. USCIS won't delay sending his EAD and AP due to deluge of I-485 applications.
2. In case the dates retrogress middle of the month (mid-July) due to large volumes of I-485s from people (from other countries or those who don't visit here), then that reduces additional backlog for his case.

What's is Frist's motive in trying to trip the McCain - Kennedy or Specter's Markup? What's his point?
Looks like in Congress, each senior senator is a leader of his own and don't tolerate or cannot see eye to eye on more serious work of fellow senators or congressman. The idea is to trip the whole effort to treat illegal immigrants as humans. In Frist and its ilk's opinion, they want the services of illegal (and legal) immigrants, but this great country doesn't want to give any benefits to the illegal aliens in return. It's is so farcical, only the feudal minded Frists' can do it. Many in this country want 'closure' for this and 'closure' for that, but they deny all relief to these illegal aliens. Our goal of relief from retrogression and to increase visa numbers is unfortunately tied to such 'comprehensive bills'.
I want users of this forum to think about it, ruminate on it and write letters to law makers, newspapers etc.

I can second that. I do have an inactive discover card (I have not activated the new cards they sent to me as I have better cards to use). I have had discover cards for years. Just recently, a person from Discover Card called me to offer me those 5% reward cards. I said sure. Then she asked me if I was a citizen. Then she asked if I was a permanent resident. After two nos, she said then I can't give you the card.
Discover does not issue a credit card if you are not a PR or citizen..even though you have good credit history..

My wife's AP was approved today. The receipt date on the original filing was Jun1st.
Since, we had to visit Canada shortly for a conference, we took the invitation letter to the InfoPass appointment. The person at the counter asked us the fax the documents to the Nebraska office and we did that the very same day.
After a week, we received an approval email.
I also had contacted the CSC around 20 days before the infopass appointment, even though I chose the 45 day options while booking the appointment.
Hope this information helps others.

Brother, your idea is good but practically it is very difficult.
Do you see a donate progress bar at the top, it took an entire month and lot of pushing to get 10,000 US$ in donation.
People are not willing to donate, many have questions about credibility and what work is being done, some have lost entire hope and hence not willing to donate.
It is like chicken and egg, we are asking people to donate to see change, some are saying change is not there and donation does not make a difference.
If it is so difficult to collect 10,000 US$ a month how can your plan collect 5 million ?
If someone is going to ask you the following questions what are your answers,
1) If i donate 50$ what is the feedback (in terms of info, progress) that i will get?
2) What will you do if the administration thanks us and takes the donation and gives it off to a non-profit education organization. (giving donation does not mean that they will do something for us). Then what do we do.
Instead can we not use that money to lobby for our goals.
Okay folks, how about this approach?
Since a lot of people do not donate because they think it won't make a difference, how about setting up an escrow-like account, which, if it meets its target (say $5M), is used for the purpose intended.
In case it falls severely short of the target by the due date, then everybody's money is returned without deducting any processing fee.
Any comments?

Congrats suresh..it's good to see Dec 05 getting approved..best option would be to get your wife here on F1..Some of the schools required only TOEFL ..after coming to US get married again in US and apply for 485..
485 derivative status is only available if you were married before the 485 approval not after
If someone marries after 485 approval then you need to file I130 under family category for spouse
Of course it is always possible to come on h1 and get a new new gc application filed thru employer - but it is not possible to add as derivative application with a lawful permanent resident

Yeah, easy money overnight is not always possible. Business in general is never easy. Lot of people think it is. People used to easy money, can never adapt to tough times. Those capable hard working businessmen who can adapt to any situations are the real businessmen.

Am on H4 since Sep 06. I want to apply for a H1 this year. Can any one of u tell me the procedure? How long will it take for me to get a H1 and start working?

It will be the same process as for every other H1B. It will take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months for regular processing. You have the option of opting for premium processing in which case it will take about 15 days. If you are going to be counted against the cap then you can not start working earlier than October 2007 as thats when the new cap period will start.
