Glad to see they are still hardworking on fixing and improving "not-new" products.
That's one thing I really hate about apple. Once a new revision comes out, if you have a problem with the previous generation product you may as well forget about it ever getting fixed.

What exactly does the apple video adaptor adapt? I've been looking for something to connect my macbook to an external monitor.

I love my G5 PowerPC- works beautifully, but I'm looking to upgrade from the PowerPC chip set to an Intel set, since it appears the software people don't want to support it anymore. I want to know if I can cannibalize my old Power Mac- just install the hard drives and memory into a couple of Intel Mac Pros that I'm looking at. Bottom line: are the memory and hard drives compatible?
There are still plenty of developers making universal binaries for PPC.. just that the main developers of Apple, Adobe, Mozilla(TenFourFox is better than firefiox 4.0) aren't developing new apps for the PowerPC, but there are literally 1000's of small and minor developers creating apps for the PPC platform. Its not dead yet.

Basically, I want to get an ibook, either refurb or used--just something cheap that will do internet (wireless), word processing, and that's about it. I have a biggger mac for storing music burning dvd's etc.
There's a nice ibook on the refurb page right now. My question: if I let this one pass will something else come up on that page pretty soon or is it a rare thing to find this kind of deal.
My reason for not buying now is because I did not plan to get something this soon, and money would be a tad bit tight to spring and get it right now. Should I spring for it now (aka credit card) or is it safe to wait for this deal to surface again?
Thanks for the reply BTW :)

Umm. I think a new iPod Shuffle goes for 129. I don't know if many people will want to pay $9 less for a used one. Hey but I don't have one! Don't listen to me.
EDIT: Oh shippings free. GREAT DEAL!
BTW... Add tax, for whereever most people are and you are most likely paying about $137-$138. I am doing a new one for $120 shipped.

You need to make yourself a custom firmware first using pwnage tool. In pwnage tool select install cydia and select no baseband update.
http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
Then get redsn0w and put the phone in pwned DFU mode.
Then you can do a option key plus click the restore button in itunes, browse to the custom restore you made and start your restore.
When done the phone already has cydia loaded.

In games, you can't tell the difference.
Yes you can. Don't argue with me, I have been switching back and forth on Crysis 2 and there is definitely a noticeable difference.
However Games still look good with 1920x1080 on the 27" iMac.

Well what will you use it for, what apps will you run? The ibook is not slow, the only time it will be slow is for running some pro apps such as FCP. Also you might want to consider the 12" ibook since the 14 and 12 inch have the same resolution.
Well, I'll be using it for notetaking, the occasional graphic work and quite possibly some numbercrunching come next semester... We'll be doing statistics
Basically, you could say that what I need is an advanced typewriter, but then again, I imagine that once I get to know the machine, I'll be wanting it to do more stuff? Never had a portable before....

Ok but would it run games like team fortress, battlefield, arma or would it be poor quality.

Since there is Airtunes, Airport, Airbook would be a possible name...
If not this is refering to AirTV...
Just speculation.
RSAi like the sound of that "Airbook" cant wait to stream the keynote from steve:apple:

you think they would do something like what they did with the earlier macbooks when 802.11n came out and have you buy an enabler. So i guess i'm saying do you think that apple already put blue-ray drives in.
Not likely, it was discovered the day they released the 802.11n cards that they were the faster wireless. Someone by now would have opened up a new Mac Pro and discovered the Blu-Ray drives if they had done that.

Do you use software for longer?
Are you using different software?
How often is often?
Are there any repeat offenders?
Are you doing different things now?
Your description is incredibly vague.
If applications are crashing, that may or may not have anything to do with Snow Leopard.
Nope

Couple times a week
Steam, iTunes, and the iWork apps come to mind
