it'd be great to know who is who :)

Here, if someone can update the rest of it I'd be grateful. :o

Also: we discovered that there's a registration table set up right in front of the designated Horseshoe booth. Don't let that deter you... you can walk behind the table to get to the booth.

Yeah, I was wondering what idiot decided to put a table right there.

Its crazy that because my house is powered by wind, If I got a leaf, it would be a wind powered car!

And if your house was powered by landfill methane and you got a leaf, it would be a sht powered car!

I don't know about you guys, but on my iPhone 4 battery life has been great since 4.3.2 - best of any 4.x updates. Let's hope 4.3.3 doesn't break it, or I'll be really pissed.

    yes me too

I had to turn off my SB box for the week since I'm away from home on business, so that's probably another reason it dropped. This will probably be happening more often now, unfortunately for folding (but fortunately for me because I love my job).

bloodbone, thanks for all the great info, I'm hoping you can answer a question about porting a number.

My personal line is currently on my company's Verizon account for billing purposes. I had our telecomm director note on the account that the line was eligible to be ported out - from your experience, do you anticipate this causing any issues? Any special "gotchas" I should be aware of ahead of time that I may be able to eliminate before they cause a problem? If a pre-order is offered, would this cause any special problems in terms of me being able to pre-order the phone, or is that a completely separate transaction from actually porting the number?

Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide. I've been waiting since the original iPhone to be able to get one and they've finally given the ok so I'm just trying to make sure the transfer goes off without a hitch so I'll be able to get one on launch day, but I want to buy at BB to take advantage of an $85 reward zone coupon.

    Cheers,
    Jim

Won't happen. Until every computer (and I'm looking at you, el cheapo PCs) has TB, they'll keep putting in everything. Also, TB is an Intel thing so AMD is out. And making (and marketing) stuff just for the Mac creative market has never driven down prices. IIRC, Western Digital were retailing for about a $20 premium over base for identical hard drives that were formatted as HFS+ and had "Mac" on the box.

Prediction: you know that 30-pin connector Apple recently patented, the one that carries USB and Thunderbolt? That'll be the only port on MacBook Airs next year.
my portable 2.5" drive is from OWC, who could very well put out a TB only solution. But I agree with the general sentiment that most will continue with multi-port products.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8G4)

Showing how Android is surging ahead is meant to show which OS is winning, but often (as is the case with this report, I believe) they are only looking at phone sales. Because iOS runs on iPads and iPods, Apple's share is higher. I wish we could get more concrete evidence on this.

    P-Worm

Your OS isn't "winning" when it's being likened to Windows. It's no compliment. Licensed to anyone who can slam together a box with User Experience as varied as the handset models that run it doesn't make Android a winner.

    It just makes it generic.

uh, yeah... cuz who cares about the other 68 million people in the USA? If you're not a Christian, too bad, right?! All ads should be aimed solely at Christians that celebrate Christmas, not some other crazy made-up holiday celebrating some silly fictional fairy tale!

Hast he blinder ever failed? All the Will it Blend videos I have watch is everything blends.

Their office is across the parking lot from ours, and I watched them blend the iPhone 3GS (actually they used my Red Camera #63 to film it) and on the first take, the phone fell to the bottom of the jar, and when they tried to blend it the phone jammed the blade and kept it from getting up to speed. The blender groaned, you could see the pressure from the blade pushing on the back of the phone all the way through to the LCD, then the blender gave up and stopped. iPhone WIN! Wonder if I have the footage of the iPhone beating the blender... they probably wouldn't want that out there anyway.

On the second take they were careful to make sure the phone was sitting on the blade when they started it.

Thanks for the info, I need to find a good reasonable price on an iPad sim card (the AT&T international rates are a joke)!

Welcome to Japan, where only a few weeks ago did DoCoMo started offering sim-only plans without having to buy a phone along with the SIM, and their rules are a joke and no employee/store agrees on how to implement them and how much it will cost (it will all end up costing a lot).

Best to get yourself a 3G, Wimax or 4G wifi modem of some kind to tether your ipad, laptop, etc. One plan, one device, and many are foreigner-friendly without all the headaches that come with the phone/iPad data plans.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Just because iLife ships only with new Macs of the same model year doesn't mean that you're stuck with iLife '05 on your 2005 Mac. It could easily be the case that iLife will be optimized for Leopard with enhanced features, but will still be compatible with Tiger (remember the days when software was optimized for Altivec but didn't require it?).

Of course, it's not impossible that iLife '07 will be Leopard-only, especially if it doesn't add anything to iLife '06 functionality. I can't think of any obvious new functions for iLife to add. More themes, some reorganization, etc. would be new features, but not breaking any new ground.

    Two words: Multiple Libraries.

Both iTunes and iPhoto would be nice if you could have real multiple library support. For example, my wife and I have completely different tastes in music, so of our approximately 4000 song collection, there are maybe only about 400 songs that overlap. My wife REALLY doesn't want to hear Eminem or Evanescence popping up on her iPod, and I REALLY don't want to hear Alan Jackson or Garth Brooks on mine. Yeah, we can set up playlists, and we do have a couple dozen playlists. But we create, delete, and change the playlists often, and don't want to have to update our iPod preferences all the time. We want two separate libraries, but that don't duplicate the 400 songs that we *DO* both like. (Okay, it may be closer to 1000. We do both like classical, and have a decent size classical section.)

Also I can imagine official support for net-storage shared libraries, especially with the net disk feature of the new AirPort Extreme.

Also nice would be if iWeb would store my website in a more convenient location, like, say, the 'Sites' folder. (I remember when iPhoto stored its library in the Documents folder, too.) And the ability to do two separate websites, to two separate locations would be nice. (It supports multiple 'websites', but they both publish to the same location. I would like ONE website on my .Mac site, and another hosted locally, but both designed with iWeb.)

iDVD supporting HD would be a nice addition. If not Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, at least the current "HD on standard DVD" format DVD Studio Pro supports.

Jon Stewart has a lot of pull. Even when he gets things wrong or fails to mention some key points because they wouldn't help his purpose. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes.

Two very simple ways for Apple to defuse this completely:

    1) Do nothing. Apple's been going their own way for years now. Negative publicity has rolled off their back like rain off an umbrella. Just keep churning out the goodies that make the rest of the industry look like Chinese moped repair shops. Keep it business as usual and things will roll along . . . as usual. Even Stewart couldn't help gushing over Apple gear. In fact, I'm inclined to think Apple got more positive publicity from this. See the very end of Stewart's commentary.

    2) Sidestep Jon Stewart completely and use Colbert for a positive spin. He already came out in support of the iPad.

As long as Apple makes no direct, public response to this, they're fine. So no "open letters" about this, Steve. Your Flash letter is working like a charm. But avoid this little hornets nest. Let the rest of Hollywood continue to inevitably do your marketing for you.

Last time I read the phrase "written from the ground up" was in a press release for Office 2011. Which is why Word 2011 and Excel 2011 are fast, 64 bit, Cocoa apps with no dialogues that look just like the ones in Office 2004.

iMovie makes simple editing really quick. FCPX looks like it will do the same for complex work. It looks awesome, even if it bears no visual similarity with FCP7, what with it actually being written from the ground up.

Yeah but who wants to keep up with 2 when you could just buy one?

Tiny flash drive can go on the keyring, so effectively it doesn't feel like you're carrying two. (Really, after seeing how my friend did his, it looks like he just has an extra key wherever he goes.)

As for the clip, I wish that it were removeable. Although, with the thinness, it doesn't matter too much. Just a minor detail.

[QUOTE=theBB]I have a SanDisk player about the size of a shuffle, but with a screen, radio and voice recorder. It runs on one AAA battery. It cannot do playlists, it is only folders of mp3 and wma files. Radio almost never work indoors. It comes with in-ear headphones that are too big for my ears. The new version with 1GB capacity is selling for only $55 at Amazon. The new one even seems to have a color screen. Unless iTunes compatibility is important for you, it is not a bad deal just due to the screen. I guess Apple could add a screen and still sell shuffle for $79 or have a 1GB nano for $99.[/QUOTE

I'm actually a bit interested in this. Mind posting a link? My brother's been wanting something like this, and I think I might get this for his birthday over a shuffle because he likes having a screen.
