There's a very small part of me that kind of has to hand it to France for having the nerve to place this ban. It is a terribly misogynistic and divisive garment and I disagree with it completely. I think France merely outlawed it with the wrong reasons in mind... at least on paper. It should be to do with banning the hiding of identity rather than it being specifically a burka and niqab.
I live in a very diverse neighbourhood and I frequently see women in various head scarves. The burka and niqab seem quite antisocial and I find it hypocritical that totally covering one's face like that is accepted but if I walked into these same places with a motorcycle helmet, a balaclava, a mask, etc. I'd be asked to take it off, leave or some other such demonstration of being unwelcome/distrusted. If I said it was part of my religion, would it be accepted?
I find many Islamic beliefs particularly frustrating because many of the beliefs and or believers are SO inflexible but often expect total flexibility for themselves. I'm fed up with religious beliefs being unchallenged and so quickly accepted simply for being religious. Now in general letting people believe what they want is great policy but I think it can go too far. E.g., cases of women wanting to wear burkas and niqabs in identification photos. Come on! :-/ If I go to Dubai on holiday and bring a codeine painkiller that you can buy over the counter here, I could go to jail (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7234786.stm). Or if my husband gives me a little kiss in public, jail (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8602449.stm). Yet, hey, come to the UK and do whatever the hell you please and even try to change our laws or litigate (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23420128-hairdresser-sued-for-refusing-to-hire-muslim-woman-in-a-headscarf.do) if you don't get your way. On one hand the UK's openness is wonderful but the other hand is being walked all over.
Someone somewhere has to draw a line, but carefully. I don't want to see beliefs outlawed but I am not so against certain practices being outlawed. There are a lot of really horrible religious practices taking place right under our noses and I'm not accepting it simply because it's someone's cherished religious belief.
Read up on "African witch children" for some really disturbing material, just so I'm not accused of picking solely on Muslims. I'll pretty much pick on any religion you put in front of me.
I don't know how or when it will happen but I long for a day when people themselves outgrow religion. Not governments banning it, but people learning their way past it. I know this idea may be upsetting to some but it will happen eventually and the stubborn clingers on will only look crazy. Sorry to say that many already do.

Revamped finder, pretty pleaaaaase...
There better be some improvements in the Finder and in Spotlight. That should go without saying.

Still no word on SATA III for some or all of the busses? It shouldn't be hard to figure out, listed in System Profiler.

The iPad destruction is heart breaking to see, especially for all those out there who can't afford one and would have treaured the copy they destroyed. But we have to remember, this is good publicity for the iPad becuase it elevates its status in the cultural consciousness (not because it stil works after being bent in half, but that doesn't hurt).
And just think, how many iPads have been accidentally destroyed or damaged since they went on sale this past Saturday! It's just a thing, and more are made everyday :).

Really? I found i had a noticeable drop with 4.3.2; just fiddling with the phone off the charger would bring anywhere from 2-6% drop within a few minutes...

So... I posted earlier (ordered- 3/11 7:30pm and got a shipment date of 4/1, arriving 4/6) and decided to check my order status with Apple. As I mentioned it hadn't changed (before lunch). Came back after lunch and noticed people saying their order status HAD changed. So I looked again, 3 hours later... STILL NO CHANGE.
Are people really seeing their shipment dates change? Starting to lean toward a lil' BS... but don't want to cast judgment :(
I can assure you 100% my shipment date was Apr. 26 and is now Apr. 21, changed between 1-3pm

Apple support on a Motorolla device, not the other way around. At least to my knowledge, they didn't take that support away. I can't see Apple allowing users to continue to stream Netflix on ATV2 if they introduce a service that directly competes.
Maybe you're right, though. I won't be a happy camper though... Take away Netflix and my ATV2 is an overpriced movie trailer player.
if Apple were to build ther own TV, They wouldnt build an ungodly amount at first, would they. wouldnt they test the waters a bit. With the better content and a subscription not too much higher than NETFLIX, I think they would have a monster.

My C2D iMac run idle at about 36-37 C, your saying that is incorrect?
Mind you, he is referring to the MacBook. I would expect iMacs to run cooler.

It's working great for me locally. Over WAN I cannot say: NO ports seem to be working (even ones I used last week for VNC) which is not EyeTV's fault. I think it's an issue with AT&T DSL. I hope they haven't started blocking something intentionally. I'll try again tomorrow in the hopes that it's fixed. (I can't even traceroute to my home.)
I'm having an issue with this: no matter what I do I cannot get the phone to connect. It just says "Could not connect to EyeTV service unavailable (503)". This is via the local WiFi/Wired network and/or My EyeTV (which has a green light on the EyeTV preferences. Any ideas?
Temporarily bogged down by unexpected sudden traffic? I couldn't even get the company's Web site earlier today. Seems OK now.

I love the new shuffle look. It is an excellent design.
There shouldn't be too many complaints about it being unable to function like the old one as a USB jumpdrive. USB jumpdrives are pretty cheap now, and many of them are so small that you can put one onto your keyring without noticing it. Buy a USB flash drive for your keyring, clip your shuffle to your pants, and suddenly the old model seems incredibly bulky.
I'm just worried about the space. 1GB isn't enough for me, even though it's a "shuffle". 2GB would hit the spot just about right, though.

Did anyone notice on the very beginning of the show "HD brought to you by Windows 7" ? I know this is probably coincidence, but its still not cool to do spoof like this if Microsoft is a sponsors. I kinda lost respect for the guy now, I don't know. Peace may be funny, but its still very distasteful to do 8 and a half minute clip, which is almost half of the show if Microsoft is a new sponsor. I mean come on.

One thing which has surprised me is how many Portal 2 advertisements I've seen on buses or billboards. I've rarely seen video games advertised to such an extent, so that was certainly different.
Here's my theory: they think it will have a wide enough appeal. From what I can tell, and I played the first one already, this is a "E for Everyone" kind of game. Not much violence, but plenty of thinking. They even brand it as "having fun with science." I think they're going after tween's parents with that. They're saying "look, mom & dad, it's way better than call of duty for your kid. Look, it has science and we didn't show a single person dying in the promo!"

I'm confused.... how is he arrogant?
I think some people just hate the message, or anything that reminds them of something they're not but wish they were.....
I don't see how he's not arrogant. The message from Justin always seems to go something like... "Oh you get viruses, oh, ouch, that sucks, because, um, I don't."
You know, on second thought, you're right, he's modest.

Very nice!
Could you post your wallpaper? Thanks!
As for me, I've got my iPod touch 4g 32gb and it has become my computer, thanks to jb. 95% of what I use a computer for now can be done on this amazing little device. I can even connect in to an external monitor and use my :apple: bt keyboard. BTW, mobile terminal is awesome.

I've put the 480 back into the 980x machine and installed windows and everything was fine until I installed the latest Nvidia driver, which is required to do folding in the gpu, now the video is flashing on and off, black screen, more off than on so it's impossible to do anything  I checked Nvidia's web site and it seems that this may be a known issue. Oh, it also runs for a couple of hours then shuts down for no reason  So at present I'm stuck until they get the driver fixed, and who know how long that will take. I can't even get the folding software loaded until I can see the screen at least most of the time
oh man. that's not cool.
take a look here. (http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=15196) there is a link to a driver sweeper. direct link (http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/) if the other doesn't work.

Maybe, when you rank the individual product models. But when you rank the underlying platforms, iOS is no longer leading the pack. Android has taken over the lead and that was to be expected, because Google did the smart thing: Divide and rule. Everybody can build Android gadgets, but only Apple builds iOS devices. And the systems that everybody can use have ALWAYS dominated the market. Just remember Windows vs Mac OS or VHS vs Betamax and Video 2000.
Nice try, but also false. iOS has a >50% higher number of devices than Android.
Hang on a moment. You say:
"iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are the #1 and #2 selling handsets."
So in that case they would be at the very top of the phone sales, not at 5% they can't be the top selling handsets in No.1 and No.2 positions and not be at the top. that just does not make sense.
Not much of a math person either, eh?
