wow people are so worried about magnisium being used. First off you dont use the stuff in it pure form. In the pure form it is way to reactive to be used. Make an Alloy out of it an boom you got something really good.

Heck most stuff made out of alluim is not made made out pure Al. Most of the time it is an Al. The alloy metal is normally li (the lightest of all metals but highly reactive)

It be some alloy metal with it.

Heck steel is an alloy. up to about 4% carbon by weight. Most metals we used to day are some alloy.

Apple knows what they are doing.

I use to have a motorcycle that had a magnesium alloy block. Believe me that block got a heck of lot hotter than any ipod or powerbook, it took an infinite more amout of abuse, and it was as light as a feather.

Bring on the Merom, Magnesium, Macbook or Triple M book.

The cost doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is the potential of leaving it on and proceeding to have sex on the couch, inadvertently launching nuclear war heads on Russia.

"Did it move for you too?"

Which part was wrong? Apple sent people to investigate the finders house, not Gizmodo, (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/04/dude-apple/ ) And he also mentions that he knows Apple didn't ask the police to go after Chen (But then immediately goes on to say that apple should go after AT&T) I don't think any part of Stewart's commentary was inaccurate, just misleading.

The part where he omitted the iPhone was stolen property as to why the cops seized the computers and the fact calling Apple's tech support( which he just stated as Apple denied the prototype) as a proper way of action to return the device. From watching The Daily Show a lot, Jon while a comedian does tend to do some research on what he talks about. This one lacked a lot of the details surrounding the story. Even though he is a comedic reporter who does comedy bits of the latest news story and the media, he always seemed informed on the subject. It looks like he sacrificed the facts for comedy this time around.

wtf is exactly what i've been saying for a while.

I hate to think that Apple intentionally leaves these issues unaddressed so that you fall for the idea that "maybe the iPhone 5 will run current software better".

But that's exactly what they do. They leave these goose eggs to annoy the user who notices such things, who are coincidentally the same people who will buy a new iPhone to fix lag issues.

I've owned every iPhone, and every new iPhone running X.0, runs beautifully, only to be slowed down and negatively effected by every single interim update.:)

so, have you ever owned a computer before? because thats the exact same thing that happens to any OS ive ever worked with. the more that is added to an OS, the slower it gets. the more a machine/device is used, the slower it gets.

such is life. wipe it and see if that helps. or look for a phone that runs on Unicorn Powder, im sure it wont have this problem.

OMG LOL Unicorn Powder ....more more

And more importantly, the very fact that even the Yakuza operate off a very strict honor code means American levels of criminal violence are just unheard of in Japan. And you wonder why--and this is true!--that Japanese sometimes call teenage delinquents "Yankees" (I kid you not!).
The Yakuza were first in and supplied large amounts of aid to the worst affected areas.

OWC did a lower quality teardown of the top of the range 27" model

To clarify, I'll wait for the "iFixit teardown" of the 27" model to make a comment. Guessing about what's underneath fuzzy shots of heat sinks isn't useful.

In any case, though, it's more to know what you're getting. Oversubscribed interfaces can be very useful - most of our connections are oversubscribed.

I'd just like to know up front whether and how the bandwidth is shared between the two TBolt ports. Apple can make it very hard to understand those details.

first time poster. tho long time macrumor visitor :)

i couldn't help it. as I had just been working on a video running into all sorts of frustration as we editors usually do.. I was just as excited as the crowds with each new feature that was announced. can't wait!

some people wonder why people were so excited.. it's because the new features really take away ton of the frustrations we've always had with final cut. it'll save us time and make our lives easier. go apple!

and that price... apple is willing to incur opportunity cost (As professional video editors are willing to pay a LOT more for this, perhaps near 1K) for the hope of picking up tons of more consumer users... which they will. smart move.

I can't remember which commentator it was but when asked "The last thing we want is for the test to be washed out. That's no way to end the series" he responded "No, I think we'll take a win whichever way we can".

A result would still be nice. :(

Such good input to this thread, thanks for taking the time to make the effort!

For someone that created a fluff thread, you're taking yourself too seriously. What did you expect, people to not defend their purchase?

My opinion stands: For the equal-but-opposite reason that I would never buy the 13", there's that group of people that would never buy the 11". The latter group is too practical. The former, too cool. It's personal, as is productivity. Apple did the MBA offerings right this time. But this guy said it best:

    Sorry, don't get it.

Yep, that fixed that issue on my MBP, too. I can now close the lid and it goes to sleep. Amazing!

The apple store had ordered me a new top case, motherboard, and sleep sensor to try and fix this. I guess they can send all that back. :)

It is funny how little things bug me. The heat never has bothered me.

But the damn thing not doing to sleep, really made me upset.

Isn't this just a backwards variant of Verizons very successful "can you hear me now?" campaign? AT&T is basically saying tell us where you can NOT hear <me> now. Can you imagine the effect of making such (user reported) information public?

Picture the new Verizon campaign, with "can you hear me now" guy walking around leading the big Verizon network crowd under the Verizon 3G map, while AT&T's revised map shows where their subscribers report network problems. Yes, that would probably result in a map with many more places "filled in," but too bad those colors would represent where coverage has failed a PAYING subscriber. Verizon would have another killer campaign to follow the current killer maps campaign.

It would be great if this moves AT&T to invest in delivering a better network, but while profit drivers and paramount "obligation to the shareholders" dominate the decision making, it makes sense to spend on infrastructure only when they absolutely have to do so, minimizing cost while maximizing profits. Quality of service only matters to the degree that they can reasonably compete (so as to keep the flow of subscribers coming in... and staying).

We look at it like customer service (in this case maximize the reach and bandwidth of the network) should be the #1 concern for companies like AT&T. But it's not. They want to spend the least they possibly can which isn't accomplished by putting a tower in every "thin" reach area. A system that allows there to be only 2 dominant competitors- with any little upstarts being eaten up (acquired) by those Goliaths- is unlikely to ever get the level of (quality of network) service subscribers seek.

With the recent bandwidth auction for the old analog TV channel spectrum freed up in the Digital TV transition, there was a great opportunity for others (even Apple & Google were interested) to gain very usable spectrum and thus be able to become national competitors to Verizon and AT&T. But guess who bought up almost all of that spectrum?

i have a huge doubt that it's going to be used on a mac. apple did it so other companies won't profit from creating an invention like that. sorta like: "ours idea first, you can't do it"

if it's used, however unlikely it is, I will gladly welcome it. i mean, you can put a piano keyboard, scratchboard, numberpad, touchscreen, flight-simulator joysticks, calculators, thumbprint verification, customizable palm-rest, etc.

Has anyone tested the game on a Macbook Pro 13' Mid 2010?

I want to buy the game, but I don't know if it will work fine.

Works fine. 13" Macbook Pro April 2010 with 4 GB Ram here. Highest rendering settings except for filtering. Resolution is 1280x800. I tried it, it would work (a little chopppy) with 1900x1200 too but I had to turn on mirroring. It's for a casual gamer like me but not for the hard core gamer. I don't need 60 FPS, I just want to look it good. And the 13" delivers it. And the game too.

EDIT: I pushed all settings up to the max. Works fine. But the resolution is the limiting factor.

Maybe the guy is a dumb bunny and in fact it's the Mac Pros that are to be magnesium.

A distinct possibility--Wu is not the brightest bulb of the bunch. If the Mac Pro does have a Mg case, that would certainly set it apart from just about everything else I've seen.

One of the things I love about Apple products: you don't want to hide them under your desk. ;)

Am I the only one that wants iWork 07'? My trial ran out on 06 and I need it for school, but don't want to get 06 and have 07 come out a few days later.

You could try Openoffice.org for Mac. It's basically very like Microsoft Office only Openoffice.org is free.
